  • Dozens gathered for a candlelight vigil in memory of Sgt. Ramon Gutierrez at East Aldine District on January 27, 2022. He lost his life on January 24 while directing traffic along Sam Houston Parkway in northeast Harris County. Sgt. Gutierrez, 45, was a supervisor in the Vehicular Crimes Division. He joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2002 and previously served as a detention officer, patrol deputy, and accident investigator.

  • The HCSO/Military Liaison Office delivered a carload of baby supplies donated by HCSO employees to Deputy Z. Hollis and his wife Mayra Valdez-Hollis today. Hollis serves with the Army National Guard and was called to active duty as part of the Joint Task Force Guardian Support Mission in the Southwest Border Region.Mayra has spent most of her pregnancy alone and is due in May.

  • After six months of Basic Peace Officer Course training, we welcomed 60 new deputies to our HCSO family on January 26, 2021.The B1-2020 class kept going in the face of unimaginable challenges: a pandemic and the sudden and heartbreaking loss of their classmate, Cadet Cornelius Anderson.

  • A procession was conducted on Friday May 8, 2020 for Harris County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Raymond Scholwinski, who died after battling COVID-19.
  • Family members attend funeral services for Sgt. Bruce Watson at Grace Church on January 12, 2021. The 20-year department veteran was fatally struck by a vehicle in the Pearland area after an off-duty job leading a funeral procession.
  • HCSO deputies form a cordon of honor and a procession for Deputy Juan Menchaca on June 13, 2020. He passed away due to COVID-19.
  • Today we celebrated the life of fallen Deputy Adam Howard, 27. He lost his life on May 11 after a fatal collision. Howard joined the Sheriff's Office three years ago and was an investigator in the Violent Gang Suppression Unit. Deputy Howard is survived by his wife and two young children. He was an extraordinary husband, father, and friend. We will never forget him.End of Watch: 5/11/22

Waters, a field training officer in Patrol District 4, died of Covid-19 complications on August 1, 2021.
  • Chief Toquica hugs the son of fallen Deputy Joshua Sieman during funeral services at Parkway Fellowship in Richmond, TX on November 3, 2021. Deputy Sieman, 39, passed away on October 21 of COVID-19 complications. He joined our agency in 2016 and was assigned to Patrol District 5 in northwest Harris County, where he served as a member of the Crime Reduction Unit.
  • A burial service with Military Honors was held at Houston National Cemetery for Detention Officer Robert Perez, a Navy Veteran, on February 24, 2021.
