Bobby Chambers owns a small farm in Lowland, Tennessee where his parents began hiring some of the first Latino workers in the 1970s. He is convinced that he couldn't run a profitable farm without their labor.
Morristown in eastern Tennessee, surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains, has experienced a recent dramatic increase in its Latino residents. Hamblen County's resident Latino population jumped from a few hundred to as many as 15,000 in the last decade. The overwhelming majority are recent immigrants to the United States without documents.
